LADA / VAZ vehicle repair is back in style!
Soviet-era cars generally leave no one indifferent, and each of us has a story to tell about them.
Some remember how you had to get a permit to buy a car, some recall family photos taken with the car in the background, and others remember the long lines at gas stations when A-76 ran out.
Between apartment blocks, there were long rows of garages where people would go to tinker with their cars.
On the rear window of the car, there were checkered cushions, and everyone knew that neighbor who cared for their car so much that it was only taken out on special occasions, and Mrs. would drive it.
But every new thing soon replaces the old. The same goes for the classic LADA. On car sales portals, you can see listings where the prices of restored vehicles catch up with newer models.
Recently, cars bearing the LADA name have been making a noticeable return to the roads, and some have even begun to become a bit of cult classics. Back in the day, all of them were called Zhigulis.
Cars of the Zhiguli type were exported under the LADA name to other countries. Since these old models are no longer being produced in this form, it makes perfect sense to keep them alive.
However, once an old LADA is acquired, it becomes clear that it cannot be repaired everywhere, and spare parts are often hard to find.
Karla Auto offers professional repair services and spare parts for VAZ-type vehicles!
With over 30 years of experience in engine repair, old LADAS are already like old friends to us.
A bit more about LADA history:
In its time, LADA cars were called Zhigulis. These, in turn, were divided into VAZ-type vehicles according to their modification numbers:
VAZ 2101 – Kopikas (1200 cm³), later updated to VAZ 21011 (1300 cm³)
VAZ 2103 – Zhiguli Lux (1500 cm³)
VAZ 2106 – Super Lux (1600 cm³)
VAZ 2102 – called Pikap, which in modern terms would be a station wagon
The NIVA, on the other hand, was a 4x4 designed for collective farm chairmen. For its time, it was a quite capable off-road vehicle.
Engines were named according to the model:
1200 – 01 engine
1300 – 011 engine
1500 – 03 engine
1600 – 06 engine
Back in the day, these engines were installed somewhat randomly in different cars, which led to variations such as VAZ 21013, 21061, 21063, and so on.
Later came the newer VAZ 2105, VAZ 2104, and VAZ 2107, which initially had the 1300 cm³ belt-driven engine, but older 011 and 03 engines were also installed in some models.
In the second half of the 1980s, the front-wheel-drive VAZ 2108 and VAZ 2109, called SAMARA, were introduced.
